Crown Chakra: Chakra Meditations for the Thousand Petalled Lotus

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

The crown chakra has the rather beautiful alternative name of the ‘thousand petalled lotus’. This multi-layered image is very appropriate as this chakra is at the very center of our super-conscious minds and so can be profoundly influenced by chakra meditations. It represents pure consciousness and is, as you may expect, situated on the very top of the head. It is through this chakra that we link to the universe. As such, it is through this chakra that we accept the energy of the universe into our bodies.

Associations

The crown chakra is thought to lead us to transcendental consciousness. Therefore, it operates power over the brain and the central nervous system, which is why it can be so effectively balanced through meditation.

Energizing your Crown Chakra

Achieving full transcendental conscious takes years of practice and even many yoga experts do not achieve this; however, there are things you can do to increase the energy flow and balance through your crown chakra.

The way to begin is with a basic meditation which will open up your crown chakra. This is very often blocked as we are unwilling to accept the energy of the universe into ourselves.

Meditation

To do this, you need to sit comfortably and ensure your spine is straight. This is because all the man chakras are located along your spine and central nervous column, so freeing up the energy relies on allowing free passage along this channel. This is much easier if you are sat up straight.

Put the first hand you think of on the top of your head, focusing your mind on your crown chakra situated there. Take some deep breathes or do specific breathing exercise you have learned in working with your chakra healing. As you do, focus on the energy in the chakra at the top of your head. You should soon start to feel the energy there. If it helps, thinking of a bright purple light that is shining in your crown chakra.

Opening up your crown chakra and allowing the energy to flow allows you to become at one with the universal energy, heightening your spiritual consciousness; therefore, many things are possible through meditation.

Spice up Your Life with your Sacral Chakra

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Your sacral chakra is like a little ‘happy button’ situated about two inches or so below your navel. Its alternative name is Svadisthana. It is associated with joy, creativity and enthusiasm. Having a good energy flow through your sacral chakra will enable you to have a fulfilled and happy sex life too. That is certainly a good reason to work on getting the flow through this chakra.

The Mood Chakra

The sacral chakra is associated with the emotions such as sexual appetite and creativity. An imbalance in this chakra puts your emotions into turmoil and sexual dysfunction. Dealing with an imbalance here can be a way of letting go of control issues and feeling free as a result.

Recognizing the Truth

Liking yourself is sometimes easier said than done, but it is vital to a balance in this chakra. You need to build a good self-image and improve your self-confidence.

That often begins with some quite tough self-awareness, as you learn to recognize and value your feelings. Don’t let your emotions control you; see if you can step outside of yourself a little and understand how you feel and what has caused these feelings.

Balancing your Sacral Chakra

Color breathing is one of the most effective ways of balancing the energy in this chakra. To do this, you need to focus your attention on the spot about two inches below your navel, where you will find your sacral chakra. There you should visualize a warm, deep orange glow, as this is the color associated with this particular chakra. Exercises such as hip rolls and pelvic thrusts will also help to free up your sacral chakra energy.

Take deep breaths, seeing yourself pulling the deep orange glow into your lungs. Imagine the glow being pulled into your body and gently released back to the universe each time you breathe out. As you do this, feel the freedom of being able to move around comfortably in the warm glow, not weighed down by anything. You should feel a renewal of your emotional connection to the universe.

This ability to let go will aid your relationships as you won’t feel guilt, or the need to blame that ruins so many relationships. You will be able to move on from past hurts and find love and satisfaction once more.

The Benefits of Chakra Meditation

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Chakra Meditation comes with mental, emotional, physical and spiritual benefits. Learning to focus on the different energies within your body and focusing on your seven chakra regions, you can stimulate various types of healing.

The ultimate goal of chakra meditation is to induce healing and alleviate your stress.  What this practice will actually do is help you to clear out the blockages in your system. These blockages can cause a variety of physical and emotional problems, and meditation will help you to deal with the underlying causes of these problems.

Issues that Chakra Meditation Addresses

Some of the physical issues that can manifest if your chakra energy is out of balance are stress related conditions, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, heart circulation problems, ear/nose/throat problems, or sleep disorders.

Emotional issues that could arise as a result of chakra imbalance include insecurity and unstable emotions, lack of motivation, or anger.

Chakra meditation can also help you to overcome mental issues such as confusion or delusions.

About Chakra Meditation

You will need a comfortable, quiet and private area in order to meditate. It takes a great deal of concentration, and the flow of energy in your body needs to be completely unhindered. You must be able to focus and breathe properly in order to truly tap into the power of the energy that is within you.

Focus on removing those underlying causes to your physical, emotional and mental issues. Allow the energy within to flow and be charged. Let each individual chakra point rejuvenate and circulate energy.

It is best to focus on only one of the seven chakras at a time. Each one has its own special function, location and color. It will take time for you to learn which problems can be healed through balancing which chakra, but it is not complicated. Learning to meditate successfully may also take some practice. You can practice alone or with and experienced chakra coach in order to fully benefit, and make sure that you are doing it correctly. Either way, if you sincerely work at it, you can reap the benefits.
