Balancing Heart Chakra to Overcome Resentment

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Has someone treated you unfairly? If so, you probably understand that this can leave you with feelings of resentment and frustration. These negative emotions can take a tool on you mentally and physically if left unresolved. It can be difficult to forgive someone when you feel that they don’t deserve to be forgiven, however, it is for your own good. Letting go of this negative energy can restore your physical energy balance, preserve your health, and help you avoid the harmful physical effects of resentment.

It is not worth it to hang on to resentment, because you will only be causing your heart to strain. You are probably not hurting the person you are upset with by holding a grudge against them, so just let it go.

Balancing Your Heart Chakra to Remove Resentment

When someone treats you poorly it injures your emotional well being. Rather than allow your heart to remain bitter and angry, release this energy. It is important to talk about your issues with a trusted loved one, but you should also take the time to restore your chakra balance. Even if you are not thinking about the hurt all of the time, it can remain there until you release the negativity. That is why it is important to take the time to restore your heart chakra (the fourth chakra point).

There are different ways that you can rejuvenate the balance of your heart chakra. This chakra point, located at the center of your chest, just above the breast bone, is representative of your love, and devotion. Through basic meditation and breathing exercises, you can connect with this green chakra point, remove the negative energy that resentment has created and allow positive energy to flow once again.

One very simple way to enhance the circulation of energy through your heart chakra is to experience and appreciate beauty in a deeper way. Relaxing your mind and allowing yourself to enjoy something aesthetically pleasing, such as art or nature, can have a truly healing effect. As you observe something beautiful, breathe slowly and deeply. Take breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. Visualize the green energy at your heart chakra point circulating freely and imagine the resentment leaving you.

The Heart Chakra

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

The heart chakra is found above the sternum in the very center of your body. The best way to feel this center of consciousness is to imagine a spot exactly centered within your chest, front to back and side to side.

This chakra is associated with the energy of love and the color green. The relevant element here is air.

Energies of the heart chakra include devotion, caring intuition, and passion. This point is often considered the gateway to the higher mind because it connects the “lower” chakras which are associated with the body and emotions to the higher chakras that relate to mind, knowing, self-expression, and so forth.

Imbalances in this chakra can manifest as physical heart problems or as hate, malicious intent, and judgmental thinking, among other things. Tactile meditations and visualizing green energy are two very simple exercises for balancing the heart chakra, and you can find more info about this center here.

Clearly this brief post is only the beginning. Understanding any specific chakra, and the greater chakra system, is an experiential journey that takes time and a genuine asking. It is my hope that readers who find this blog and my main site will be compelled to start such a journey and seek a qualified teacher in the fields of meditation and energy work.

Chakra Colors

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Each major chakra has a color associated with it. The minor chakras may also have colors but I can’t say for sure because I don’t know.

It’s also worth pointing out that traditionalists and modernists have different opinions on the exact colors for the seven major chakras. This is perfectly fine, because true spiritual disciplines recognize the paradox of life:

It is entirely possible for two different realities to occupy the same space and time.

So don’t get hung up on descrepancies you might find while studying the chakra system. Just have fun and empower yourself.

Some healers I have spoken with even say you should let colors come to you intuitively and not worry about any color charts. This too makes a lot of sense.

But for purposes of this article, here is the color system I learned and still use with my chakra meditations:

Base Chakra - Red

Sacral Chakra - Orange

Solar Plexus Chakra - Yellow

Heart Chakra - Green

Throat Chakra - Blue

Third Eye Chakra - Indigo (think of a mixture of blue and purple)

Crown Charka - Purple

Note that different writings and teachers assign different values to each color; i.e. deep red, brilliant yellow, grass green, etc.

But you just need a basic color chart to start working. When you are visualizing your chakras or doing specific breathing/yoga exercises, visualize your body being filled with the appropriately colored energy; some students also imagine their breath is the given color and watch it come in and out with their meditation.

As with any subtle energy channeling, the way you respond to this will be an individual experience. And of course to learn more about the chakras visit our complete chakra system Website.
