Improving Communication Skills with Throat Chakra

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Communication skills are extremely important in everyday life. We all need to be able to communicate effectively on a regular basis at our jobs and in our relationships. If we don’t learn effective communication, it can cause problems in just about every aspect of our lives. Poor communication can cause misunderstandings and disagreements that can hurt relationships and ruin opportunities. That is why it is crucial to hone these skills.

Using Throat Chakra to Improve Communication Skills

Destructive speech or physical throat, nose and ear problems can manifest themselves when a person’s throat chakra is lacking in energy and unbalanced. Your throat chakra, the fifth chakra, located at the bottom of your throat, represents your inner and outer voice. In order to enhance the energy of this blue chakra, you can focus on developing both your inner and outer voice.

Whether you are explaining something to a friend or need to express your feelings to a spouse, you have to know how to communicate well. Pay close attention to your thoughts and the words that you speak. Take the time to think about your words before you speak them. You should also learn to listen to people effectively, because listening is just as important as speaking. Speak openly and honestly, and don’t hold things inside of you.

You can also exercise your vocal chords. Sing, hum, or chant in different tunes and visualize the energy circulating and glowing through your throat chakra. Concentrate each time that you say something, not only paying attention to what you say, but how you say it, and what your voice actually sounds like.

You can also enhance your throat chakra by using breathing exercises and basic meditation. In a comfortable position, sitting upright, focus on the base of your throat as you breathe deeply. When you exhale, release a natural hum and imagine the vibrating energy causing your blue chakra to glow brighter and stronger. Repeat this several times until you feel that this chakra is in balance and harmony with you.

Chakra Colors

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Each major chakra has a color associated with it. The minor chakras may also have colors but I can’t say for sure because I don’t know.

It’s also worth pointing out that traditionalists and modernists have different opinions on the exact colors for the seven major chakras. This is perfectly fine, because true spiritual disciplines recognize the paradox of life:

It is entirely possible for two different realities to occupy the same space and time.

So don’t get hung up on descrepancies you might find while studying the chakra system. Just have fun and empower yourself.

Some healers I have spoken with even say you should let colors come to you intuitively and not worry about any color charts. This too makes a lot of sense.

But for purposes of this article, here is the color system I learned and still use with my chakra meditations:

Base Chakra - Red

Sacral Chakra - Orange

Solar Plexus Chakra - Yellow

Heart Chakra - Green

Throat Chakra - Blue

Third Eye Chakra - Indigo (think of a mixture of blue and purple)

Crown Charka - Purple

Note that different writings and teachers assign different values to each color; i.e. deep red, brilliant yellow, grass green, etc.

But you just need a basic color chart to start working. When you are visualizing your chakras or doing specific breathing/yoga exercises, visualize your body being filled with the appropriately colored energy; some students also imagine their breath is the given color and watch it come in and out with their meditation.

As with any subtle energy channeling, the way you respond to this will be an individual experience. And of course to learn more about the chakras visit our complete chakra system Website.
